Rapid Prototyping

We know that when you need to prototype a part, speed is very important. We eliminate bottlenecks in your launch process by offering a variety of no-tooling options to produce accurate prototypes with a very fast turnaround - often in 48 hours.

At Thomco, quality is at the forefront of everything we do. We are ISO 9001 & IATF 16949 registered and are a 3M Preferred converter. For you, this means we have quality controls in place to make sure your parts are within tolerance and packed and shipped exactly as you specify.

Benefits of Rapid Prototyping

Rather than go through the process of launching a product in a linear fashion, rapid prototyping offers an agile approach that allows for early and frequent testing to avoid costly re-works later in the process. Because of our multiple no-tooling, short-run options, working with us for your prototypes allows you to go through as many rounds of iterations and design changes as you need, without running up a hefty bill.

Our Prototyping Capabilities

Whether you need a custom cut part or want to see a live version of an early label design, Thomco has the equipment, capacity, and engineering support team to get it into your hands quickly. Our no-tooling cutting methods include laser, CAD, and waterjet, and with our digital print capabilities we can run as few labels as you like, even 1, with no investment in print plates or dies. Our engineers will work with you on your designs to ensure they are ready for production at maximum efficiency, saving you money down the road.

Finishing Options

Sometimes the finishing method you want to see in your future production run isn't feasible without running the parts exactly as you would during production, but you don't want to pay the setup costs and tooling costs of a production run for prototyping. Most of the time, we can make up for that with manual finishing work to simulate your production parts. Examples of manual finishing may include manual de-tabbing, hand-laminating to sheets, or adding material manually to a roll rather than a sheet. We go the extra mile to make sure your prototype gives you confidence in the steps ahead.

Is Rapid Prototyping Right for Your Application?

Not all parts require extensive testing, but if yours does, you do not want to skip the prototyping phase. Testing early and often and having the ability to iterate on the designs before significant investments are made is a best practice in manufacturing. Thomco is here to support your new launch from beginning to end. We pride ourselves on our diverse mixture of capabilities and there isn't much we can't cut. If you need help determining if our capabilities can produce what you need, just ask us. We love a challenge and are looking forward to taking a look at your parts and solving your problems.
