Slitting

At Thomco, we offer material slitting as a stand-alone service or in combination of an overall converting process. Our slitting capabilities allow us to work with master or jumbo logs of raw material, which brings the material cost down. We can slit tapes, foams, films, cardstock, liner material, flexible rubbers, and more.

At Thomco, quality is at the forefront of everything we do. We are ISO 9001 & IATF 16949 registered and are a 3M Preferred converter. For you, this means we have quality controls in place to make sure your parts are within tolerance and packed and shipped exactly as you specify.

Benefits of Slitting

The main benefit of having in-house slitting capabilities is that it allows us to be flexible with our raw material sizes. Instead of being restricted to an MOQ of a certain width, we can bring in raw stock in wide widths and customize the width of finished rolls for you. For example, if you wanted to have a low quantity of several different widths, you can benefit from our slitting capabilities which allow you to pay the reduced price of the master log and not be constrained to MOQ quantities of any width.

Our Slitting Capabilities

If the material is flexible, we can slit it. We have two methods of slitting at Thomco: Lathe and un-wind/re-wind. Lathe slitting allows us to be nimble and produce any quantity of a desired width, from 1 roll to hundreds. Un-wind/re-wind slitting allows us to work with brittle or dense materials that would be difficult to Lathe slit. We can slit most materials as narrow as 1/8", and both slitting methods handle raw material logs up to 60".

Finishing Options

All slit material is finished in roll form, but that doesn't mean you don't have options. With our un-wind/re-wind capabilities, we give you flexibility in your choice of roll length. You could start with a 180 yard master and finish with 60 yard rolls, for example. Or, maybe you want to change the core size. We can do that too. Our goal is to meet every one of you needs, and our diverse range of capabilities makes us the perfect fit for your converting needs.

Is Slitting Right for Your Application?

Do you want to maximize cost efficiency by buying master or jumbo logs of raw material but you need a custom width? Do you need to vary the widths of your material but don't want to pay the MOQ price for each width? Or do you need to alter the length or core size of your rolls? If you answered yes, Thomco has the slitting and un-wind/re-wind capabilities to solve your problem and save you money. If not, take a look at our other converting services. We pride ourselves on our diverse mixture of capabilities and there isn't much we can't cut. If you need help determining if our capabilities can produce what you need, just ask us. We love a challenge and are looking forward to taking a look at your parts and solving your problems.
